GIPS and Northwest announce plans for back to school
Covid-19 has altered, but not defeated plans to get back to school.
Grand Island Public Schools announced their plans for reopening in August last night.
Superintendent Dr. Tawana Grover said social distancing may not be achievable at all times, so face coverings will be required for students on-site.
Grover says input from the community, staff and health department officials have, and will continue to play a vital role in the success of the reimagined plan.
In a letter to parents, Northwest Superintendent Dr. Jeff Edwards said they plan to open on August 13th but added that they will continue to monitor and analyze details of COVID-19 and any potential restrictions, guidelines or recommendations that will be in place to start school. Additional information in regard to the opening of the 2020-2021 school year on Thursday, August 13th will be provided on Thursday, July 30th which is 2-weeks prior to the start of school.
